  4.      While You Were Out is a telephone message system like the pink While
  5. You Were Out note pads.  WYWO manages all phone messages for various users
  6. and can be used on any DOS 3.1 or higher compatible network or on a standalone
  7. computer system.  WYWO lets you send messages to other users, store incoming
  8. messages on file, paste messages to the Clipboard, and print messages.    You
  9. can also use passwords to protect other users from reading your messages.
  10. The Shareware Version 2.1 of WYWO is a 20-User version.  A history of bug
  11. fixes and changes to WYWO are in the file WYWO.HST.

  13.      If you make use of WYWO and would like the commercial version 2.1 which
  14. eliminates the shareware screen and includes the complete printed documentation,
  15. you can register it by mail, CompuServe mail, voice, or fax direct from Caliente.

  27. To install While You Were Out:
  28.  
  29.     1.    Create a WYWO directory where all data files and programs will reside.
  30.     2.    Copy all files to the WYWO directory.
  31.     3.    If upgrading from a previous versoin of WYWO, run the WCONVERT.EXE
  32.     program described below.
  33.     3.    From Windows, run WSETUP described below to create the user names
  34.     and directories.
  35.     4.    Run WYWO from Windows.

  38. Running the WCONVERT.EXE program
  39. --------------------------------

  41. WCONVERT.EXE is a conversion program for those who have a version of WYWO prior
  42. to Version 2.1.  WCONVERT must be run from DOS from the WYWO directory before
  43. using any of the Version 2.1 programs.    WCONVERT will convert every user's
  44. USER and new message files to the new Version 2.1 format which allows for
  45. increased text in the message field and for a new Operator field.

  47. Running the WSETUP.EXE program
  48. ------------------------------

  50. WSETUP.EXE is the administration program for WYWO.  It is used to set up
  51. all of the user names and directories for the WYWO system.  It is also used
  52. for clearing user's passwords should they forget them.  WSETUP creates a
  53. file called WYWO.DAT in the directory dedicated for the wywo system.  With
  54. WSETUP, you will be able to add, modify or delete users that are in the
  55. WYWO.DAT file of the WYWO directory.  To add a user, click on the
  56. Add button and fill in the name of the new user.  Click on OK to enter the
  57. name into the system.  You can modify the user's name or clear the user's
  58. password by either clicking on the Modify button after clicking on the
  59. user to be modified, or just double-click on the user name itself.  You can
  60. then change the user's name or clear the user's password.  To delete a
  61. user, select the users name and click on the Delete button.  Click on
  62. the Save button when all users have been added, or click on Cancel to
  63. ignore any new changes.  You are now ready to run WYWO.

  66. Running the WYWO.EXE program
  67. ----------------------------

  69. WYWO.EXE is the main WYWO program for sending and retrieving WYWO messages.
  70. Once the WYWO sheet is on the screen you are ready to send and receive
  71. telephone messages.  By selecting the Help button, you can get help on using
  72. any of WYWO's functions.  This is the on-line manual.  To get the complete
  73. printed documantation, fill out the enclosed order form for version 2.1
  74. and send to Caliente International specifying which version (number of users)
  75. to purchase.

  77. Version 2.1 now has on Options screen which is available from the Help menu.
  78. From this screen you can set the default user, new message alarm time, message
  79. save options, and enter your own message types.

  81. If you would like WYWO to be loaded each time you run windows so it is always
  82. checking for incoming messages, add WYWO.EXE to the Load= line of the WIN.INI
  83. file.

  85. To specify a specific default username when running WYWO, pass the name
  86. on the command line for the WYWO icon or from the Program Manager.  This name
  87. will override the default user name specified in the Options screen.

  90. Running the WMONITOR.EXE Program
  91. --------------------------------

  93. WMONITOR.EXE is a new addition to the WYWO family of programs.    It acts as a
  94. system message rack/message board similar to the message racks used on many
  95. secretaries desks.  It is great for those users with or without a network that
  96. want to monitor all new WYWO messages that come in at a central location.
  97. WMONITOR will check for all new messages in the system at 30-second intervals
  98. and display the names of users with new messages.  The users can then read
  99. their messages from WMONITOR by double-clicking on their name or selecting
  100. their name and clicking the Read Messages button.  WMONITOR can be used in
  101. two modes: One for displaying new message names as a message board whick will
  102. show the number of new messages as small WYWO sheets following the users name,
  103. or bye displaying a message rack with a picture of the number of WYWO sheets
  104. sitting in their message "slot".
